THRILLED THE WORLD!!!

We all know he is no more, what we also know is that there was a huge emotional outburst when the news of his demise broke out. There was shock more than grieve. There have been many celebs that came to this world to entertain us and left us for their last journey. So what makes this legendary king of pop so different from the rest? Why there is a sudden awakening of his unknown fans and filling the entire cyber space with mourning and tributes. There is an issue here, a reason which I would like to explore and not let them pass as unanswered.
Michael Jackson – King of Pop, Worlds greatest entertainer and one of the most popular men on earth. There would be more such coined terms for this great in different parts of the world. I am lucky to be in the same era as he is. Why is he different from the rest? He appealed everyone. He gave a new meaning to performances and the term dance. No one has seen anyone on earth dancing, the way he did. Everyone wanted to emulate him. The so called cult audience admired him silently, as they would not want to risk their cult status by mingling with the likes of the majority. That was Michael Jackson for people.
As he was soaring in the eyes of the people for his great performances as well as his selfless humanitarian work, the dark secrets from his closet made an appearance to tarnish his image. I admired the fans that stood by him. I also admire the fans and friends who didn’t stood by him as such reality checks are an integral part of human life. I was one among them who criticized him for his acts and disowned him from my idols list. I was never a fan of Michael Jackson. I was never a big fan of Michael Jackson. I never worshipped him. I simply admired his dance moves and saw others emulating him. I simply took the great for granted and everyone did. He performed in the 90’s, spend half the time in the court premises in 2000’s and we got on with our lives by registering the fact, a star was faded but his remains and those moves has been named after him and he resides in our DNA.
He went to Bahrain – people around the world knew he was there. His broken nose was on display – people around the world knew he was there. The rumors of him not making it because of an alien illness- but he is still alive, why bother. When we come to know about a person suffering from a life threatening illness, we prepare ourselves for the worst and when the time comes we simply feel bad and move on. The question is - why weren’t we prepared for MJ’s death? Why cry so much after he was ignored for almost a decade? Why, even my grocery guy knows about his moonwalk but he doesn’t know about Pink Floyd or Led Zepplin or Elvis Presley? The fact is we considered MJ as immortal, no matter what happens, he will survive. He didn’t. He lost the battle. We accuse him of using his bedroom for pedophile activities. Has anyone of us got an entry to Neverland? NO. I am not his lawyer defending his case. I am simply a fan who realized that I was his fan after his death, like many of us.
Now that he is gone, we cry on his memorial service. We realize what we have lost. We realize there won’t be anything new and creative from this genius. We will have to be happy with his archives. I don’t know, what has he done in his personal life, I simply know I am a fan of his and I am not ashamed to be called a selfish fan who got out of the slump after his death. This is not a tribute write up but an attempt to unlock those sudden emotions after his death. He has just made us realize, Love when I am there in front of you because you are not allowed to love me 6 feet under. Apply this for all your loved ones too.
Thank you,
MICHAEL JAIKISHAN
